19th Amendment to the constitution is passed in Congress. Which prohibits any United States citizen from being denied the right to vote on the basis of sex.
For the first time women began to abandon dress restrictions from previous history, but widespread acceptance didn’t happen until the latter part of the decade.
Flappers and Flaming Youth!
Another aspect of the flapper movement was that more women were getting into dancing and acting, which would have been considered provocative.

flappers were more than just a look. A flapper partook in smoking, drinking, acting and dancing, work, and even wearing the occasional pair of pants.
